I’m Ellie, an original alternative wedding, funeral and life events celebrant, (www.alternativeceremoniesuk.com) and celebrant trainer (www.choicecelebranttraining.com) based in Whitby North Yorkshire.
Specialising in handfasting and Pagan ceremonies, mead plays an important part in many of the ceremonies I create including funerals and celebrations of life. Mead is important during naming ceremonies in a toast to the child or person.
As a lover of mead I first became aware of Afon Mel during one Whitby Goth Weekend. The stand next to mine was selling Afon Mel and that was it, instantly, I fell in love with what is the best mead I have ever tasted. I always recommend Afon Mel mead to those who book me to be their celebrant as this is a special occasion so special mead is required.

The Great Taste Golden Fork for the best food or drink from Wales was presented to our “really impressive” 13% ABV Heather Mead. “Smooth and easy to drink with lovely honey tones”, this mead is “crisp, balanced and rounded with an almost sherry-like dryness on the finish”, making it the ideal partner for cheese.
